About ramp
All the ceramics are hand-made; thrown on the wheel by Rupert and then hand painted by Alice. The current range is fired at earthenware temperature. Colour is first applied using various clay slips. When the clay slip is drying, scraffito tools are used to incise lines through the colour and create specific designs.
After the initial firing, underglaze colour is applied, on top of which goes a final coat of transparent glaze. The pots are then glaze fired to 1060 degrees centigrade.
Please click through the menu on the left to have a look at our pots, commissions and school projects.
If you would like to order or commission work from ramp go to the contact page. Ramp will then contact you by phone to discuss and confirm your order.
As all the work is individually made and in many cases one-off, when ordering from images on the site, please do not expect an exact copy.
Due to the hand made nature of the ceramics, there will always be slight differences in form & decoration which is what makes the work interesting.
